Ella Schrader
Landscape Architecture Major
I am currently a Senior at the University of Colorado Boulder in the
Environmental Design program. I am majoring in Landscape Architecture and am currently working towards a Lighting Design certificate at the college of
Engineering and Applied Science. I am very passionate about the work I do and am currently pursuing more practical applications of what I have been learning. I have gone on a school trip in Italy to gain more knowledge of historical
architectural practices, have explored practical applications of lighting design in Santa Barbara for a course related to landscape lighting, and have been participating in the Solar Decathlon where we are working alongside Habitat for Humanity to design housing in Ponderosa Co.
I was born and raised in a small mountain town in Colorado where I was raised with a specific reverence for nature that I have found to be unique among my peers. I am very passionate about sensory gardens because I believe that landscapes should be places where visitors can establish lifelong emotional
connections and that the way in which a place looks, sounds, smells, and feels plays an indispensable role in the strength of this bond. I also have felt the most engaged with schoolyard design projects where community engagement and inclusivity are the main design goals.
